Did You Know Birmingham Has a Holocaust Studies Library?

Did you know Birmingham has a Holocaust studies library? Now you do!

The Birmingham Holocaust Education Center (BHEC) has been hard at work re-organizing the library and adding new materials to provide more resources for visitors. To celebrate the library's new additions, you're invited to celebrate the grand re-opening this Sunday, October 11th from 3:30pm to 5:00pm.

You'll get to hear librarian and historian Mark Skinner discuss the value of libraries with special collections, such as the BHEC's library, and you'll get to hear Melissa Young, a PhD candidate at the University of Alabama present her research on local Holocaust survivor Dora Nesselroth's experiences.

The event will take place at the BHEC, located at 2222 Arlington Ave S, Birmingham, Alabama 35205, on Sunday, October 11th. The event is free, though you're encouraged to RSVP by emailing the BHEC at info@bhamholocausteducation.org or by calling 205.795.4176.

You can also post questions and mark your calendar via the Facebook event, and if you're in the Off the Beaten Shelf Book Nerd community (and if you're not, you should be!) you can reach out to fellow book nerd and BHEC staffer, Rebecca Dobrinski.

And if you really love history and can't wait for the library's grand re-opening, you can whet your appetite by checking out a sampling of the library's holdings via the online catalog
