Hot Off The Shelf: I'll Tell You In Person by Chloe Caldwell

It was 2009 and I'd just started college as an English major when I first heard about PANK Magazine.

An upperclassmen English major whom I admired and who was constantly having pieces published in literary magazines raved about the merits of PANK. One of the founding editors was Roxane Gay, a writer whose name I can't imagine readers today not knowing, so keeping PANK on my radar was good advice.

Fast forward to today: I'm officially writing book reviews for PANK. Surprise! My first book review is of Chloe Caldwell's latest essay collection I'll Tell You In Person. I also did an interview with Caldwell, which you can find in the piece.

As a fellow writer friend once told me, every writer who hopes to get published in a literary magazine should do author interviews and/or review someone's work---it's part of literary citizenship. Being a writer is hard and we're all in this together. I scratch your back and one day when I have a book I'll hopefully have generated enough literary good will for someone to scratch mine.

So do your favorite hustling book blogger a favor and head over to PANK and give my first review there a read. If you really love me you can leave a comment so they'll know their readers like the sorts of things I write about. I'd be mighty grateful.

Thanks, as always, for supporting my work. I've been submitting a lot of creative nonfiction pieces lately and I'm so looking forward to sharing that with you.
