7 Literary Horror Books for Spooky Season

My favorite season is spooky season! While I’m sad that the best month of the year is drawing to a close, the spookiness will continue as long as I’ve got a good horror novel.
Though I have some feelings about the word “literary,” I’m using it here because the books I’m recommending aren’t traditional horror novels. Or at least they may not be what you immediately think of when you imagine horror novels. AKA, although he’s great, there’s no Stephen King on the list.
Putting together this list also made me realize how much Hispanic/Latinx authors have done for the horror genre. 4 out of the 7 books on my list are by Hispanic/Latinx writers.
And, yes, there are 2 books by Grady Hendrix because he’s just that good. Without further ado…
A Cosmology of Monsters by Shaun Hamill
