I've got a new essay up!

Part of being a freelance writer is letting calls for submissions inspire you. I didn’t plan on writing about my family’s weirdness with money, but when I saw an editor at Personal Finance Insider (an offshoot of Business Insider) requesting essays from folks who grew up low-income for their Value of a Dollar series, I knew I had to submit.
So I wrote about how my grandparents would give me cash for my birthday, Christmas, or bringing home a good report card and how my parents, unbeknownst to my grandparents, would often take that cash. Though it didn’t persist after I was 11 or 12, the experience still heavily influences my thoughts on giving kids cash as a gift.
Read all about it here. I appreciate you reading and supporting my work! Your reading my stuff lets the editor know you like my writing and that they should continue to work with me. :)
