Thursday Word Day: Nemophilist

Happy #ThursdayWordDay, word nerds!

This week's word is a rare treat. I was scrolling through Facebook when I happened upon this week's word, which was posted by my friend and fellow blogger, Tanya Sylvan of All In Stride

"nemophilist: noun. One who is fond of forest or forest scenery; a haunter of the woods."

I say the word is rare because it's apparently fallen out of common usage---I checked my two favorite online dictionaries and found no trace of it, but I was able to verify its meaning in an online encyclopedia.

I don't know about you, but the advent of fall really brings out the nemophilist in me. My birthday is next week so I've planned a full day of hiking and canoeing. :)

As always, if you have a favorite vocab word, share it and a link to your blog in and comments below and I'll feature you in a future Thursday Word Day post.
