Happy Thursday Word Day, word nerds and Potterheads!
Today's word is in honor of the recently released photos for the upcoming "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" Harry Potter prequel film. These days, being a Harry Potter fan is like reaching a hand into Hermione's beaded bag (that's bottomless thanks to an extension charm).
Dictionary.com says, "zoolatry: noun. the worship of or excessive attention to animals."
Newt Scamander is most definitely a practicer of zoolatry.
Book nerds are also stereotyped as being too fond of cats, so even if "Fantastic Beasts" isn't your thing, at least you have a word for all the doting attention you smother your cat with.
